Farren Hilliard

Farren Hilliard is a mezzo-soprano from West Columbia, South Carolina. She recently completed a Graduate Vocal Performance degree at Appalachian State University, studying with Ms. Mary Gayle Greene. Farren is a recent graduate of Campbell University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Comprehensive Music in Voice. She began her solo career in voice at the University of South Carolina Aiken, where she originally had interests in marketing. Farren has been a vocal scholarship recipient at both Campbell University and USCA. She participated in the University Choir at USCA and the chamber ensemble ‘Canticum Novum’ where she had the privilege of being directed by the illustrious Joseph Jennings of Chanticleer fame. While living in Aiken, Miss Hilliard was a soloist and a member of the Music Scholar Program of the First Presbyterian Church of Aiken and appeared with the Masterworks Chorale of Aiken. She was a member of the Concert Choir and Chamber Ensemble ‘Campbell Voices,’ at Campbell University, where she studying under Mr. John Daniecki. In March of 2012 she performed with the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra in their production of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, as the alto soloist. In addition to choral work, Farren has sung solos for assorted sacred and special services in both states. While in Boone, she will be performing with the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, of Valle Crucis, as the alto section leader. Currently she is preparing for her role as Prince Orlofsky, in Appalachian State’s Fall Production of Die Fledermaus.
